PUPIL SUPPORT

Pastoral
Pupil support and guidance is a priority at Cwmtawe. We have a dedicated and experienced pastoral team led by a highly committed Assistant Headteacher who care for, guide and support pupils throughout their time at the school.

School Discipline & Achievement
Our 'XL@cwmtawe' policy underpins behaviour and pupil support at Cwmtawe. Pupils are rewarded for good behaviour and achievement but also recognise that appropriate sanctions are required for breaking the XL codes.

Our XL system also tracks and monitors pupil progress from Year 7 through to Year 11. Progress reviews take place each term and pupils are congratulated for their achievements. This review also allows the early identification of underachieving pupils who are subsequently allocated a XL coach to help them get 'back on track'. The XL system has been a fundamental key to our success in ensuring pupils enjoy their time at Cwmtawe, feel valued and rewarded and achieve outstanding results at all stages.

Whole School CouncilSchool Council
Our school council consists of two elected members from each year group. Their role is one of the most important in the school, liaising with pupils, staff and senior management to ensure that every pupil's voice is heard.

Some of their recent successes range from organising the activities for our charity week to adopting new healthy snacks in the school canteen which benefit all pupils and staff.
